all about blogs

Web Logs, or blogs for short, are not only useful for keeping a fresh stream of content flowing to your site, but are very important for sharing information about your business, product or services. By adopting an open-arms approach to content and information that would otherwise only be heard by those people who interact with you one-on-one, you can establish yourself as a leader in your industry or field, and create a dynamic website that is place that your customers will want to visit to find information.

In this day and age, not having a blog as a way to provide fresh content is detrimental to your online presence. Search engines now place great weight in seeing that your site is growing and provides fresh information pertinent to your declared keywords. Blogs are about the easiest way business owners can share product or service information online, and it can all be done without having to call in a web developer to create new pages.

Best of all, blogging can be fun! For business owners who find themselves interacting with their customers or clients and repeating the same information over and over, taking the time to put the content on a blog, whether with text or video, can be a fun way to communicate with their audience and save time in the long run. Instead of a twenty minute conversation about your service to prospective customers, you can give them your two minute pitch and then point them to your blog where they can find the information they need, and more! Use the time you saved to move on to the next prospect, or to nurture your existing customers.

Which Blogging Platform is Right For Me?

There have been many blogging sites that have come and gone, and only a small handful that have sustained. When choosing software to use for your online blog, it is important to consider whether you will be able to export your content later, whether you are the sole owner of your site or if it is part of a larger network owned by someone else, and whether you have control over ads or other content that appears on the page.

Many free blogging sites make it easy for you to create a spiffy-looking page, but the branding and extra page content that appears without the ability to remove it is not good business practice. Small business owners should only choose a blogging platform that is contained within their own hosting domain and that is branded with their own business. There's nothing that says "cheap" more than a website or blog that has the name of the free company you used to create it.

The good news is, there is a free blogging platform that is used by business owners world-wide which can be as basic or as customized as you want it to me. Wordpress, a full-blown blog and Content Management System (CMS) is hard to match when it comes to features, business branding, and ease of use.
